Background

Aidan Heath Waldgrave and Bridget Eileen Waldgrave was born on January 16th, 1908 to Gilroy and Abigail Waldgrave. He, and his twin sister were their first children. Two years later, their sister Adelle was born. A year after her followed Kirsten, and two years following her, their brother Alistair was born.

One might think that for a young couple to have five children within a span of six years could produce financial hardships for the couple, but fortunately, the Waldgraves did not have that problem. Gilroy worked for the Ministry of Magic as a Charms researcher for some time, and then transferred to the Department of International Magical Cooperation, finding that department much more interesting than his previous Charms venue. Abigail writes of fictional stories, mostly to the enjoyment of other women around her age, and some teenage girls, as well.

The Waldgrave family calls Notts, England their home, and the children have never known a different one than the very same house they were born into. Home life is generally pleasant for the Waldgraves. Both parents raise the children, and show love for them, though after bearing five children, Gilroy’s displays of affection for his wife have waned. Abigail is still as completely in love with her husband as the day she married him, though, and does not notice his difference in manner to her. He goes out in the evening many times in a week, under the pretense of meeting with colleagues to discuss business, or meeting with foreign ambassadors. His evening excursions often include a trip to his favorite nightclub, and his mistress, a Miss Edna Holt. He still goes home to his wife and family every night though, and even though his wife does not notice, his children are not oblivious to the fact that his demeanor towards their mother is different.

Despite Mr. Waldgrave’s infidelities, the children find it quite easy to turn a blind eye and coexist with both of their parents easily. Though not lavish, life is pleasant, and never dull, especially with a slightly eccentric, though loving, mother, and five children to entertain one another. By the time the twins had reached their eleventh birthday, they looked forward to their letters from Hogwarts arriving the following summer. Gilroy and Abigail had told them stories of when they had attended Hogwarts, and each new story got the twins more and more excited.
