The fur on the majority of his body is a warm cream shade, while the fur on his tail and paws is the same dark chocolate brown of his face. He has large ears which stand up tall atop his head, seeming to be good recepticles for his acutely sensitive hearing.

Background

October 31, 1915 welcomed Satinka Murielle Rathe into the world. Five minutes later, her brother, Seker, was born. Their mother, Astra, wasn’t around for very much of their infancy or childhood, delegating care of the twins to a Rathe family friend (and distant cousin), Blair Whit, who took the children to live with him in France. Gerald Rathe, their grandfather, also lived nearby in France, keeping in close contact with his grandchildren. Astra was not entirely absent, joining the family for Christmas holidays and birthdays, and occasional other holidays over the years.

Satinka and Seker were fast friends very early on in their lives. Being twins, they were naturally very close, and shared a great many things. Their caretaker and their grandfather began to think that perhaps, though, the two shared some sort of link other than that of sibling-hood. It seemed that, when one would injure him or herself, the other would tear up and feel some twinge of pain in that area. At first, when the twins were together more often than not, Blair mentally wrote this off as empathy pain, feeling proud that the children cared enough about one another to be concerned at the other’s injuries. As time went on, however, and these instances began to happen when the two were not in direct company, he began to realize that, however trivial, the twins possessed some sort of mental link. He didn’t believe in telepathy, so rested easy in his deductions that they couldn’t communicate mentally with one another, but was fascinated by this discovery nonetheless.

Satinka lead a life that lacked in nothing. ‘Uncle’ Blair was an indulgent caretaker, to say the least. If Satinka casually mentioned that she might like to have a pony, she would be taken the next day to be outfitted in equestrian gear and given a beautiful, well-trained pony, and the best instructor to be had. When she announced that she wanted to become a world-famous ballerina, an intelligent ballet teacher was procured, and lessons began not long after her announcement in the studio that Blair added onto the house the three shared. She hardly had to look at something before he would have it for her, the best there was to get. He was doting on both of the children, and though this spoiled the children quite a bit, they were not obnoxious. Satinka, however, used to getting her way at home, learned ways to get what she wanted outside, whether it was when being tutored at the expensive school that Blair had enrolled them in at age five, or “schmoozing” at a fashionable party given by the French Ministry of Magic.

The children lived a happy, care-free life with their ‘uncle’ Blair, but neither could deny the curiosity they had in regards to their mother. She was a mystery to them, as she never spent large quantities of time with them, citing (and rightly so) work constrictions as her limitations. Blair, the ever-indulgent guardian, decided that it was high time the children got to know their mother. And, as much as he would have liked to have kept them with him for the rest of their lives, he could not deny their need for a matronly role model, something they certainly could not find in Mrs. Soullier, the cook and housekeeper, who seemed to be woman only in name and hairstyle. He decided it was time, and went to Hogsmeade for a weekend to confront their mother as such. After some heavy-duty convincing, he finally managed to make Astra see how important it was for them to live with her now, especially in favor of attending Hogwarts, her alma mater. So it was that fall, just before the Hogwarts sorting was to take place, that Satinka and Seker, well versed in both French and English and more knowledgable than the average 11-year-old, let alone 8-year-old, took their place with their mother in the Caretaker’s cottage on Hogwarts grounds.

For some time at Hogwarts, the twins spent much of their time with each other, as well as their private tutors. Satinka had her dance instructor as well with her, and could often be found twirling through their living area in some abomination made of pink or frills, or both. Soon, the twins became restless and set out to explore the school and find as many secrets as they could manage. Though they did not find as many as they had hoped, the two became quite comfortable with the school and were able to navigate it well.

The next year was much of the same for the two, for between their lessons and explorations, they kept themselves busy. Just before they were to turn eleven, the two began to scheme up a plan: they would get into Hogwarts while they were still ten, because their birthdays were so close to the start of the year (in their own reasoning). Though their efforts to get themselves into Hogwarts earlier fell on deaf ears, their mother did take them to get wands on their eleventh birthday. Satinka got a Whitehorn wand, thirteen inches in length, with a Pegasus hair core, while Seker got a wand of Elm with a braided Sphinx tail-hair core, also thirteen inches long. Not long after they got their wands, the two began devising a plan to create invisibility cloaks for themselves so that they could sit in on classes without being noticed and therefore get ahead enough to be put straight into their second year. Though this task proved to be quite difficult, they did successfully wheedle some robes out of some of the younger Slytherin students for their own use when going into the library and if they chose to sneak into one of the first year classes. The two pursued this plan to make the cloaks over the rest of the year, even though as the 1926-1927 school term drew to an end, the need for it dwindled. The two were not about to give up on the plan, deciding that it could come useful later on.

Satinka’s fist year was rather uneventful. She was sorted into Slytherin, and had slight drama when her brother was sorted to Hufflepuff. The drama had only barely died down when she tried out for the Quidditch team at the start of the year. She did not make the team, as expected since she was a first year, but a drama on the field caused the girl to swear that she would never play Quidditch again. She also held a bit of a vendetta against the Quidditch captain, as well as seventh year Tahiri Sol after the tryouts finished. The girl managed to get through the rest of the year relatively uncathed, and even earned quite excellent marks for her troubles, though Satinka would insist that the classes were far too easy for her own liking.
Satinka’s second year was not much more eventful than the first, though she did take a strong liking to Evan Geroff. It is rumored that she decided that she would marry him, and outright told him so. Since the former Slytherin Prefect has married former Hufflepuff Olivia Baxtor, it is clear that her demands were not met. This did not seem to injur the young girl too much, as she still managed to get good marks in all of her classes, and even was able to dance at the events that the school held, with the help of her mother’s influence.

In her third year, Satinka picked up extra classes. For her own interest, she picked up Magical Art, and for the sake of her OWL marks looking excellent, she also Arithmancy and Care of Magical Creatures. Lobby as she might, she was not allowed to also add Ancient Runes to her rota, being told that she would overextend herself. Somehow, Satinka did not seem to have trouble with the classes that she took, having them come easily to her. It is clear, however, that she enjoyed her Magical Art course the best, as she spent much of her free time during her third year sneaking off to the art classroom in order to put in more time on whatever project she was working on.

Satinka’s fourth year involved her first real heartbreak. She found herself fancying a Slytherin boy two years ahead of her, and pursue though she might, she was given no encouragement from his end. She pursued him steadily, however, until she happened upon him looking quite cozy with a fifth year Ravenclaw student. Satinka was, of course, quite disappointed, and she ran to her mother for comfort over the matter. Satinka, young as she still was, managed to bounce back, and by the end of the year was flirting outrageously with other boys in Slytherin house, though she didn’t seem to have particular interest in any of them. Her fourth year, at its conclusion, was mired in more disappointment when she found that her twin brother was made Prefect and she was not. The girl was furious and many curses were said about Professor Walsh who /obviously/ did not know /what/ she was on about. Nevertheless, Satinka prepared for her fifth year with a pride that seemed to defy the disappointment of her lack of prefecture.

Her fifth year was a mixture of heavy study and a continuation of her behavior from her fourth year, though to a lesser degree. Satinka dealt with her wounded pride not by acting out, but by studying hard in an attempt to outshine Seker in his courses, and especially in their O.W.L. exams. Despite her studies, Satinka found time to tryst with a seventh year Slytherin boy named Allan quite often. It never seemed to get truly serious, though, and the girl showed no signs of heartbreak when after he left Hogwarts, the two never communicated.

When Satinka’s O.W.L. scores came in, she could not have been more disappointed. Instead of the fantastic showing that she had been trying so hard for, her scores showed in at decidedly average. While this was certainly better than failing, it was yet another blow to the girl’s overly puffed-up ego. She managed O scores in Care of Magical Creatures, Magical Art and Transfiguration, and E scores in Charms and Potions, with the rest of her scores coming in at A level. Undaunted, Satinka chose four courses for her N.E.W.T. level classes: Astronomy (in which she had also earned an E), Care of Magical Creatures (despite her distaste for the professor), Magical Art and Transfiguration. This set her for a reasonably busy study schedule over her next two years, though it certainly did not stop her from furthering her flirtations. Satinka’s penchant for the older boys meant that she had very few to choose from who weren’t professors, and she certainly didn’t like /them/ (the old dodgers).

As Satinka’s sixth year came to a close, the girl seemed to have gained a new level of maturity, though the petulance remained, however subdued. The girl’s pride seemed to make a come-back as she excelled in her N.E.W.T. level classes and made good marks through the end of her sixth year. Looking forward to her seventh year, Satinka spent her summer lounging about at her grandfather’s estate, doing very little by way of study, except what was required as summer homework.

When seventh year rolled around, Satinka harbored faint hopes of being made Head Girl but did not bank on the honor as guaranteed the way she had done with prefecture in her fifth year. Seker was made Head boy, but by that point Satinka had resigned herself to a lack of school-time glory and she was able to feel proud of Seker without a twinge of shame. She began the term resigned to the work that she would have to do in preparation for her N.E.W.T. exams.

Satinka’s flirtations dried up during that year, since she was now among her peers and those younger than her rather than the older boys that she tended to prefer. As such, the girl had no excuse but to throw herself headlong into her studies for her exams. As it turned out, the lack of distraction paid off, and by the time the tests came around, she felt very confident and ended her seventh year on a high note. As her seventh year ended, she breathed a sigh of relief. She was done with schooling! The girl promptly departed to her grandfather’s estate once again for another summer of leisure. When her N.E.W.T. score came, she found reason to truly celebrate: she achieved two E scores and two Os.

Once her summer came to an end, Satinka decided it was time to move out on her own, despite her lack of independent means or career. A few parties out in Hogsmeade and in London was all it took for her to find her means: she sidled up to an older man named Abraham Marsdale, a wealthy businessman (in what business, she did not know – nor did she care) who was more than willing to put her up in a small apartment all her own and offer her a little allowance for whatever she might need, all in exchange for her company and a pretty young thing on his arm.

To Satinka, it was a charmed life. She woke when she wanted and stayed out as late as she liked. She schmoozed and partied and went places to see and be seen. She had no responsibility to anyone outside of herself (and Abe, of course, but he asked little for what he gave). It was only as she came up on her twenty-first birthday and second full year of living without any purpose that she began to wonder whether she could live this way indefinitely. Abe was starting to want more than just a social date, and Satinka wasn’t sure she could commit that kind of affection to him. She was beginning to think that perhaps she would have to learn a trade of some kind. Her O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. scores did not give her much direction or anything by way of a niche for a career. Satinka’s future was uncertain.

Personality

At some point, Satinka got it into her head that she should react always as if everything is blase, and that this would be the fashionable way to react. She spends much of her time with a bored look on her face, and this somehow seems to make her popular among her set in town. Her tempestuous nature has not completely eroded, however. The girl seems to have mastered the art, under certain circumstances, of hiding her temper. There are moments, however, when her temper gets the better of her, particularly whens he’s around her family. The boundless energy that she had as a child has still not fully abated, either, and she seems to spent much of her time trying to find something “to do” to abate her real boredom.

A true Rathe, however, Satinka is inherently cynical and skeptical of the motives of those around her. She herself is motivated by her ambition and desire, so assumes, quite naturally, that those around her are motivated the same way.

Description

Satinka is of medium height and fairly slender. Her figure is not what one would describe as curvaceous, though she does have slight feminine curves. Her heart-shaped face is blemish-free and her fairly pale skin tinges pink at the apples of her cheeks. She has high cheek bones and a small nose. Her eyes are light blue and are framed by brown lashes. Her blonde, wavy hair is kept fairly short and styled closely around her face, making full use of her natural waves.

Outfits

Green and Blue Pantsuit

A clash of masculinity and femininity seems to be what the young woman is going for with her outfit. Her pantsuit would seem to be an attempt at masculinity, but the high-waisted pants, in a bold green, with their rather billowy pant legs are hardly what the average man in pants would wear. The pants reach just down to the tops of her feet, where they are hemmed up with a white cuff, showing dainty light blue slippers which seem to shimmer slightly. Her shirt is tailored to come in at the waist, accentuating her slight feminine curves as it meets the waist of the pants and is tucked into them. The shirt is a light blue, slightly shimmery like her shoes, with oversized white buttons coming down the front. Her sleeves are slightly pouffed, which accentuates her shoulders. Upon her head, she wears a flat hat, in a green that matches her pants, with a bow to the side stitched with thread in a blue that matches her shirt

Orange Gown

Simplicity of design is often misleading, and such is the case with Satinka’s gown. She wears a gown of bold orange, cut as if it is without straps. Around the top, coming up from the waist, a sheer fabric overlays the gown. It comes up to drape over one shoulder and down her back, attached, but not in an obvious way, and it creates a type of train down the back. The fabric comes up to the other shoulder as a true strap which attaches at the back of the dress. The neckline is wide, accentuating her collarbone. At the waist, the dress is cinched in, which accdentuates the young woman’s curves, helped along by the design of the sheer fabric which originates there. It flares out slightly at her hips and then hangs down to the floor in a slightly uneven hemline which flutters about with very subtle pleats. The whole design is accentuated by the orange fabric of the dress which looks flat at first glance, but every movement shows of the lines of sparkle that flow diagonally down the dress in a color very similar to the fabric, but just different enough to provide an interest.

Ball Gown

Satinka wears a monstrosity of a dress in bright teal. The top of said dress is rather flat and unshapen, due to Satinka’s not yet needing much shape for her dress. Puffed sleeves of a sort flow out from the shoulders of the dress, coming to attatch just above the elbow with teal buttons. A stripe of solid is all that there shows of a sleeve, as part of the bit that fastens above her elbow, while the sleeve itself is sheer organza in white, with teal buttons bunching it in several places. These bunches match those on the skirt, which has many more, and on which the bunches are more pronounced. The skirt itself is teal and has a bell shape to it, seemingly held that way by magic for the ease with which the girl moves about. The overlay is matching white organza to the sleeves with matching teal buttons holding the bunches of the organza in place. The bottom of the skirt is about three inches of shiny teal, where the bunches have brought the organza short of reaching the floor. Around the waist, a bow in teal colored organza is tied with a large bow at the back, which seems to take up most of the girl’s rear. Her neck is adorned by a simple pearl necklace, while in her ears are matching earrings, though the mass of curls which seem to have been rather haphazardly put into an updo can be seen falling down to cover her ears and the back of her neck.

Barefoot Social Gown

Gaudy is a word that could easily describe Satinka’s garb for the social. The dress is a pale blue color, which could easily be called slate blue. It has a fitted bodice down to the waist, where ruffles begin to fan out. The bottom is quite voluminous in that it seems to have more ruffles than any dress really needs, causing them to nearly stand out at a high angle from the line of the girl’s body. It comes down just below the knees, though due to the ruffles it seems as if it falls just a bit lower, looking to fall about mid-calf. Coming up to a rather modest U-shaped neck, the dress has thin blue sleeves. On the shoulders, attatched to the thin blue sleeves, there is black lace that hangs over the shoulders and down over the arms a bit, rather loosely attatched, appearing to be more shoulder covers or shoulder pads rather than sleeves. The lace contrasts highly with the palish shade of the dress, and almost seems out of place, were it not for the stockings that have been made to match, coming down to the girl’s ankles, and two small wrist-bands which also match the lace. In her hair, there are bits of blue fabric tied, holding up the mass of curls which seems to make her head look rather voluminous just as her skirt is.

School Robes

Black robes seem too somber for Satinka, though she wears them dutifully. Her robes are clean and obviously quite new, as if to compensate for the young woman’s recent growth. The robes fit well, being neither too short nor too long, and are pressed perfectly. On her left breast is a proudly displayed Slytherin crest, though the left breast also bears a conspicuous absence of a Prefect’s badge. Satinka’s shoes are far from fitting with the dress code, however, as she can usually be found with bright colored boots and in the case of their absence, dainty, girlish slippers in various colors. No amount of coaxing has yet been able to convince the girl to wear the sturdy black boots that are prescribed in the school’s dress code.
