Background

Frederick Herbert Wexler was born in 1900, the youngest boy of the Wexler family, and to that point, their sixth child. Preceding him in birth order were Basil Marvin, Logan James, Jared Aldarius and Gilbert Alan (who were twins). About a year after his birth, his first and only sister, Eva Margaret, joined the family. The family was a boisterous one, with five growing boys and a very spoiled girl crammed into a fairly tight seaside home for several years until the oldest was on his way to Hogwarts. Freddie was a child with boundless energy, running his brothers nearly ragged, and keeping his mother at the end of her wits for the first five years of his life. By the time he turned seven, he had calmed down in mobile energy, but not in his head. He was constantly coming up with new ways to prank his brothers, in particular, Basil – the oldest, who was the most serious of the six Wexler children. He and his two older brothers and his younger sister spent much of their time harassing their oldest brother (and occasionally Logan as well) that the two oldest were almost relieved when it was their turn to head to Hogwarts so that they could have a little separation from ther exuberant younger siblings.

Basil was sorted into Gryffindor and two years later, Logan went into Slytherin. Three years later, Jared went to Ravenclaw, while his twin went to Hufflepuff. The year following, it was finally Freddie’s turn. He was sorted into Gryffindor, where his oldest brother had gone (much to Basil’s chagrin), and thus began his seven year Hogwarts journey. Freddie’s marks started out poorly. He hadn’t developed much by way of study habits at home, and when he didn’t have his mother around to keep him in line, he found it more and more difficult to keep up with his homework. By the end of the year, Freddie found that school was maybe not quite so much /fun/ as he had thought it would be. His marks were barely passing.

The following year, all of the Wexler children were at Hogwarts, as Eva headed to the school for her first year. Freddie was disappointed that she was sorted to Ravenclaw, and not to Gryffindor with him, but for the sake of both of their educations, it was probably for the best. Freddie’s second year went quite a bit better than his first. His marks were not fantastic, but he was not barely scraping by, either. Third year began with the addition of elective classes, which added to his stress. Freddie spent much of his time in his classes accidentally (or perhaps accidentally on purpose) making things explode or disfiguring objects which were not meant to be changed. As such, he spent much of his third, fourth and fifth years under close supervision while he was in the library, and quite a bit of the rest of the time in detention. Freddie wasn’t a troublemaker, he was just reckless, and as such he lost a lot of points for Gryffindor during his time at Hogwarts.

It was during his later time at Hogwarts that Freddie started to finally get to know people outside of Gryffindor house. Thanks to this, he became acquainted with a girl from Hufflepuff named Henrietta Blume. She was among his many acquaintances, though, and while the two were still at Hogwarts, they didn’t get to know each other very well.

Freddie managed through his N.E.W.T. level classes well enough, and shortly after leaving Hogwarts, he secured a place at the Daily Prophet. At first, he just ran errands, but slowly he worked his way up through various odd-jobs, and by the time he was twenty-two, he had managed to get a rookie reporter position, reporting on the obscure news to fill in the holes in the paper. It was around the time that he started to get these assignments that he ran into Henrietta Blume again. They had been in the same year at Hogwarts and had at least met each other, so the two made a “friendly” date to meet up and get together. Things progressed from there past “friendly” to romantic, and by the time Freddie turned twenty-three, he had proposed to Henrietta during a trip to the shore. By the end of the year, the two had married.

In March of 1925, Freddie and Henrietta welcomed their first child: Parker Alexander Wexler. The two had decided very soon that not only did they want children, but they wanted lots of them. It was only a thirteen months later that their second child, Adelia Berenice. Two years later, Gregory Todd became the newest Wexler to the family. As Parker grew up, he became accustomed to having lots of children around all of the time, between his older cousins, Briony, Alden and Alice (Basil’s children), and his cousins of around the same age from his Auntie Eva, not to mention his own siblings, he had quite a few children around at any given time with whom to play.

Parker, as he grew up, was measuring up to become almost just like his father. He was extremely social (so the multitude of cousins and siblings suited him just fine), and inclined to pranks. It was while he was trying to perpetrate one of these pranks that he first did magic, albeit on accident. He was trying very hard to balance a bucket of water at the top of the door in hopes of drenching Adelia without being caught directly. He walked away after successfully getting the bucket up on the door, then snuck out the window in order to avoid being in the room when the event went down. A few hours later, he had totally forgotten about the bucket of water, and he had great need of one of the toys that he had left in the girl’s room, so he made his way in there. It was just as he started to push the door open that he remembered what he had done, far too late to stop. The bucket was on its way down to land on his head. In fear of the noise and the splash, he threw his arms over his head to protect himself from the water and the bucket, only to find that, instead of becoming drenched, his bucket was totally empty as it bonked him on the head then fell to the floor. He was relieved that he would have no mess to clean up and nobody would have proof that he was trying to pull a trick on Adelia that he forgot totally about the toy and headed out to the kitchen to replace the bucket. Much to his own dismay, his mother took this as an interest in helping her with the chores, so while he remained unscathed from the water, he ended up doing chores for the rest of the day instead of running about and playing as he wanted to do.

The same year as his encounter with the empty bucket, a new brother was born: Jonathan Humphrey. Parker began to study his reading and writing, his arithmetic and a little bit of magical theory – all his parents felt comfortable with teaching him without inspiring any inquiries from the Ministry regarding underage magic. He and Adelia quickly began a contest to see who could learn the lessons the quickest. Thanks to this, Parker learned much better study habits than his father had at school. Perhaps there was hope for him yet!

Time seemed to fly for the Wexlers, especially with the addition of Cameron Frederick in 1933. In 1935, Freddie and Henrietta welcomed their first set of twins, a boy and a girl – Foster Gordon and Kate Mirabelle. That same year, the couple realized that the next year, their oldest child would be headed to Hogwarts. From that point on, things seemed to dissolve into a whirlwind. Between caring for the other six Wexler children and preparing Parker for his trip to Hogwarts, there was hardly time to sit and rest. Before they knew it, September was just a short time away, and soon they were standing on the platform, waving him off as he left with his cousins to Hogwarts for the very first time.

Personality

Playful and boisterous, the boy often finds it hard to sit still for family functions. He is easily entertained by his own thoughts, which sometimes seem like they’re traveling at a mile a minute, particularly when he is sharing them with those around him. The boy is talkative, too, and can hold his own with his female cousins who have the same propensity to talk. He is quite energetic, too, and especially when the weather out is pleasant, would rather be outside playing. This energy directly conflicts with the boy’s own interest in studying. He likes to learn only so far as it suits his competitive nature. He competes with his cousins to be the fastest or the smartest, or the tallest. This serves his own needs very well because it means that he gets his schoolwork done quickly, and gets good marks in an effort to be the best of any of his siblings or cousins. Parker finds that his own love for pranking gets him into trouble, which he dislikes immensely, but he usually understands that he has to trade off for something. He is, therefore, inclined to take his punishments and hardships with a relatively cheerful nature, knowing that he at least got something good for the work that he must subsequently do.

Description

Lanky and tall for his age, Parker is the spitting image of his father. He has fair skin, but his face is sprinkled with brown freckles. His eyes are dark brown with long lashes, a feature that he gets from his mother. His hair is cropped short, which is possibly because he has tight, unruly curls which seem to take over fairly quickly if his hair isn’t kept cut just so. The hair is brown, with hints of red in the right light. The boy’s nose is fairly large for his face, making him look almost like a caricature of his father. There isn’t much to the boy, as he seems to grow faster than he can get any meat onto his bones, and he seems quite skinny when he wears more form-fitting robes.
